Hosting a GMP Workshop

Description

Foundational knowledge in GMP Manufacturing - Hands-on Workshop

WHY THIS WORKSHOP?

The number of good manufacturing practice (GMP) facilities is growing in Canada with the rapid progressions in cell & gene therapy (CGT). This has created a need for well-trained highly qualified personnel (HQP), as working under GMP conditions and requirements for GMP manipulations are regulated and quite different than in standard research laboratories.

For this reason, CellCAN has been offering since 2017 a hands-on GMP workshop. In this course, the attendees learn the essentials of GMP requirements from experts, illustrated by several experiences from actual clinical trials. The workshop is a mixture of lectures and hands-on training.

‘’This training has helped me develop hands-on expertise in process development for cell-based therapies and I am planning to apply this training to my research project’’    - Participant

‘’Truly understanding the complexity of every step in a GMP protocol will help shape the decisions I make for the scale up process in the next 1.5 years.’’     - Participant

THIS WORKSHOP CAN TRAVEL TO YOUR FACILITY.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

This workshop on Good Manufacturing Practice is designed for professionals who are working or plan to work in areas associated with the manufacturing of cell therapies, or want to expand their knowledge on advancing cell therapy projects towards the clinic. More specifically:

  • cell biologists

  • technologists

  • research scientists

  • process engineers

  • trainees

  • other end users

The outcome from this unique workshop will be the transfer of advanced knowledge creating a foundation of GMP-based know-how for the next generation of HQP. This training can be held for your staff exclusively or it can be open for all qualifying participants internationally.

WHY HOST THIS WORKSHOP?

Training a workforce for GMP manufacturing is very time consuming and costly. This workshop is designed to create a common base of knowledge amongst all levels of employment, from Medical Technologists to Senior Executive.

Hosting a GMP Workshop will allow you to:

  • Increase the visibility of your manufacturing site to potential sponsors on the National and International scene;

  • Attract new talents to your site;

  • Consolidate the reputation of your site as a state-of-the-art facility on the National and International scene;

  • Create a common base of knowledge amongst your employees and executives (if you want them to attend the workshop);

  • Benefit from a proven method of training;

  • Partner up to offer a regional training and fill an important gap in GMP manufacturing training.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING THIS WORKSHOP TO YOUR FACILITY?

  • A clean room facility following GMP regulations;

  • A space that can be used for the hands-on component of the workshop;

  • A classroom setting for the theoretical components of the workshop;

  • A project lead from your site to help us bring the training to you.

We understand that each centre is unique and that these environments are under restricted access. We take every measure to offset risks.

  • Participants go through gowning in a declassified space to give everyone a chance to make the mistakes they need to before gowning (with assistance) in an aseptic manner.

  • The workshop can be scheduled by selecting a period that overlaps with both production down time and your deep cleaning schedule.

  • The content of this workshop can be customized to your specific site expertise and/or training needs.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

This is a hosting partnership. You provide the space and the materials to train the participants. We reimburse any cost you incur and work with you to design a training adapted to your site. Furthermore, you gain all the visibility benefits listed above. CellCAN pays itself through registration fees and sponsorships*.
